Salon software

Salon software is the system that runs your salon: the calendar, the bookings, the client card and the till in one place instead of spread across a notebook, a chat app and a separate card machine. This page covers what good salon software needs to do in 2026, how MyWest covers it, and what it costs.

What salon software actually is

Salon software is not a standalone booking form and not a standalone till. It is a package that covers a salon's whole working day: planning the appointment, recognising the client when they walk in, checking out the treatment, and seeing at the end of the month what came in. Good software stops you typing the same data three times, once in the calendar, once in a cash book, and once in a spreadsheet for your accountant. For 2026, salon owners expect at least the following from their software.

Calendar with multiple staff

Day and week view side by side, so you see who has room at a glance.

Online booking via your own link

Clients book themselves, around the clock, without you answering the phone.

Client card

Name, photo, preferences and the full appointment history for every client.

Checkout and card payment

Cash and card payments with a day close that matches what was booked to what was paid.

Stock management

Register products and see in time when something is about to run out.

Staff and rota

Working hours, leave, and which staff member can do which treatments.

Reminders

Automatic message before the appointment, against no-shows.

Bookkeeping export

Pull out revenue and VAT without retyping everything for your accountant.

How MyWest covers this

The screens below are taken directly from the MyWest app, not a mockup. Each one matches one of the points above.

Calendar and booking page

The day agenda shows every staff member in their own column; you drag an appointment to a new time instead of deleting and retyping it. That same calendar sits behind your own booking link, where clients pick a time themselves.

Client card

Every client has a card with photo, notes and the full history of past appointments, so you know what they had done last time without asking.

Checkout

At checkout you see the client's bill and choose between cash and card. At the end of the day the overview matches what was booked with what actually came in.

Services and stock

Prices, duration and category per treatment live in one place, and you see straight away which products you use and when to reorder.

Team

Staff, roles and rota per salon, so everyone gets exactly the appointments that match their role.

Why do we ask for a mandate?

After the 14 free days, your subscription continues automatically unless you cancel. For that, Mollie, our payment partner, needs a direct-debit mandate. You set that up at signup, in a few seconds.

You pay nothing during the trial. Cancel in time and you pay nothing afterwards either. The mandate is an agreement made in advance, not a surprise afterwards.

MyWest next to four well-known names

Salon software roughly splits into two models: a fixed monthly price, or a marketplace with commission on new clients. Below the key differences, marked "unknown" where the research did not turn up a reliable figure.

Which kind of salon

MyWest salon software is built for anyone who works with appointments, clients and a till, not just hairdressers. Each sector below has its own page with the details that apply to it.

Already using other software? Switching is straightforward

If you currently use Salonized, Treatwell, Fresha or another package, you do not have to start over. MyWest automatically recognises exports from eight named competitors and also imports any other CSV or Excel file. If anything goes wrong, we undo the import within 24 hours.

Frequently asked questions about salon software

What does salon software cost on average?

That ranges from about EUR 16 to EUR 130 per month, depending on the model. Fixed-price packages usually sit between EUR 16 and EUR 55 per month; commission marketplaces can add 20 to 35 percent of every new client on top. MyWest costs EUR 29 excl. VAT per month, everything included, no commission.

Is salon software the same as a booking system?

No. A booking system only handles the appointment. Salon software adds the client card, the till, stock and often staff management, so you are not juggling three separate programs.

Can I try salon software for free?

With MyWest, yes: 14 days free with every feature included. You set up a mandate when you sign up, but nothing is charged until after those 14 days.

Does salon software also work on my phone?

With MyWest it does, on any device: desktop, tablet and mobile, and you can add it to your home screen as an app.

What happens to my client data when I switch?

MyWest imports your existing client list via CSV, Excel, or automatically recognises an export from eight known packages. Services and future appointments need to be re-entered yourself; that distinction is spelled out on the switching page.

Does salon software charge commission on my revenue?

That depends on the provider. Marketplace models like Fresha and Treatwell typically charge 20 to 35 percent on new clients through their platform. Fixed-price packages like MyWest, Salonized and Avana work with a monthly fee and no commission on your revenue.
